Workshops for Schools

There’s nothing more fun than teaching workshops for teens and tweens!

An award-winning professional trainer, Kay combines the witty, dynamic presentation style that’s become her trademark with her leadership development expertise to create one-of-a-kind workshops that entertain, inspire, and give students the tools they need to embrace their full potential.

YOU 2.0 – Embrace Your Destiny, Change Your World

Audience:   Teens and tweens   (primarily ages 10-18)
Length:   45-55 minutes

** Perfect for inspiring kids year-round

Based on Kay’s popular You 2.0 blog, this entertaining workshop introduces kids to the You 2.0 way of life: pursuing your dreams, changing your world, gratitude, and paying it forward. This four-step process of looking at the world with fresh eyes is both inspiring and the foundation for a meaningful, energizing, go-for-it lifestyle!

Kay incorporates quotes from teens and tweens around the world about how each of the steps has impacted their lives, including profiles of young people already making their dreams a reality. But this isn’t a workshop that’s all about dreaming. This is a hands-on program that gives students the tools they need to begin turning their dreams into reality by creating a custom, easy-to-follow action plan for taking the first step that day.

As a special bonus, Kay provides teachers with a follow-up coaching curriculum–for use in the classroom or as an extracurricular activity–to help kids continue on the “Embrace your destiny, Change your world” path. If you’re looking for a program that will leave your students (and faculty!) feeling like they’re ready to take on the world, this is the workshop for you.

LIVING YOUR FIVE – Your World, Your Way

Audience:   Teens and tweens   (primarily ages 10-18)
Length:   45-55 minutes

** Perfect for community service curriculums and National Make a Difference Day (Oct.) or Earth Day (Apr.) festivities

Based on the Living Your Five web project–which Kay founded in partnership with fellow YA authors Tera Lynn Childs, Becca Fitzpatrick, and New York Times bestselling author Alyson Noel–Living Your Five is about making the world a better place, one person at a time. It’s about understanding what you care about and how you can make a positive difference in the world around you.

This unique workshop offers hands-on activities, humorous stories, and profiles of real-life teens and tweens making a major impact on their piece of the world. Engaging, interactive discussions help students articulate what they care about most. Then students create their very own Five: five areas in which they personally want to make a difference in their world. Lists can include anything they’re passionate about… from caring for shelter animals to living a greener life to supporting a charity that resonates with them to mentoring another young person. The sky’s the limit!

With their personal Five in place, they’ll brainstorm ways in which they can take their Five from feel-good ideas on paper to real-life transformations that change their world.
