Workshops for Librarians

Libraries are Kay’s passion. As an avid library goer with a well-worn library card, she knows how hard librarians work to provide excellent service, a great collection of books, and innovative programming for patrons of all ages. She also knows how hard that is to do when budgets get cut and staffing is reduced. Doing more with less is never fun or easy. That’s why Kay used her extensive training background to develop a workshop specifically to help librarians create fun, inexpensive (or free!) teen and youth programming that offer minimal headaches and maximum fun. It’s time to get the help you deserve!

Fun, Fast, Free Youth Programming

Length: 50 minutes

Are you strapped for time and money at your library? Do you want to offer fun programming options for kids and teens without going over budget or stretching yourself too thin? If you’re like most librarians I know, the answer is a resounding YES.

As every library goer knows, libraries are often the first to feel the pinch when the economy takes a tumble. Budget funding disappears, staffing hours are reduced to save money… it’s an uphill battle being fought by librarians all over the country. Good thing help is on the way!

This one-of-a-kind workshop offers librarians loads of cool new ideas you can implement with minimal time and money required. The interactive session is designed in two parts to give you the most bang for your buck:

Part one offers ideas ranging from the year-round Great Scavenger Hunt Contest to seasonal ideas like the Spring Cleaning Escape Read-a-Thon and the Winter Blahs Book Bash to innovative ideas for virtual author visits.

Part two is a fun, interactive, totally unique brainstorming session where you’ll participate in a hilarious activity that’ll have you creating brand-new programming ideas of your own using the most unlikely of idea triggers.

If you’re ready to kick your teen and youth programming up a notch without breaking the bank, it’s time to bring this workshop to your next library conference. Aren’t you worth it?
