Check out the new What Kay’s Reading section!

It’s Web Site Update Day here at Casa Cassidy!

I’ve got a long list of updates I want to make to the site, so I’ve set a goal to tackle one item from the list every week. As long as I’m not on vacation, of course. (Vacation is gold, I tell you. GOLD.)

This week’s goal of updating the What Kay’s Reading page is DONE!

Check out my recent favorite reads. And while you’re there, take a peek at my all-time favorite YA and middle grade books. Do you see your favorites on the list?

Happy reading,

CINDY ON A MISSION update

Hi all!

I’ve been getting loads of questions lately about when CINDY ON A MISSION will be out. Thank you so much for your passion for the Cindys and what they stand for! Girl power, FTW!

Since quite a few of you have posted questions about COAM here on the blog, I wanted to do one more post with an update.

Here’s the latest: CINDY ON A MISSION will *not* be released in 2011 as originally stated in the back of THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY’s hardcover edition. That reference has been removed from the paperback edition of TCS (releasing on 6/28/11!) to avoid confusion.

As soon as I have information about when CINDY ON A MISSION will be released, I promise to announce it. However… my blog here is no longer officially active, so all announcements will be made via my author newsletter. I loathe spam and only send author newsletters on select occasions. But my author newsletter is where I’ll be making big announcements and giving away free goodies now that my blog is bidding you all farewell.

If you would like to know when CINDY ON A MISSION is released, please head to the home page and sign up for my (non-spam, very rare) newsletter in the left column. I also share all kinds of fun tidbits via Twitter (@kaycassidy) so please feel free to follow me there as well.

In the meantime, stay true to who you are and do your best to be a Cindy:

Celebrate your strength – Embrace your future – Be extraordinary

Happy reading!

Update on CINDY ON A MISSION

Holy smokes, it’s almost December! :-)

Things have been hopping here at Casa Cassidy. I’ve been getting a lot of tweets and emails this month about CINDY ON A MISSION timing and wanted to give you all a quick update.

It’s been a whirlwind couple of months (including the exciting sale of THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY to Editora Record in Brazil at auction!) and there are some BIG changes coming for me in 2011 and beyond… most of which I can’t announce publicly yet. Gah!

One thing I can tell you is that CINDY ON A MISSION will not be coming out in Spring 2011 as originally printed in the back of THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY. (So don’t worry, you haven’t missed ARCs on it. LOL) I’ll have more details to share about Jess and the Cindys in early 2011 and promise to keep you posted on their further adventures!

In the meantime, there are lots of exciting new things in the works too (including two new books I’m over le moon about!). But I’m saving that scoop for a big announcement in 2011. Just know that I’m SUPER excited about Sekret Project D (a dark YA with a kick-butt heroine) and Sekret Project CR (a fast-paced middle grades cipher mystery) and I’m having an absolute blast. I can’t wait for 2011 and beyond!

Have I mentioned I love my job? :-)

THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY e-book + THE MOCKINGBIRDS giveaway!

It’s here! I’ve been getting emails all year asking when THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY’s e-book would be available for Kindle, Nook, iPad, Sony Reader, etc. I’m delighted to announce that it’s finally here for all you e-reader fans!

As a new Nook buyer, this is extra fun. I’ve already downloaded the sample chapter just so I can see it on my Nook. :-)   For your convenience, here are the links to the e-book version on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

In other news, I’m also happy to announce the winners of THE MOCKINGBIRDS by Daisy Whitney. This was a special giveaway I wanted to host because a) Daisy is fantabulous and wonderful, and b) because Cindys always stand up for what they believe in (and that’s an important part of THE MOCKINGBIRDS). And the winners are:

Aimee Bartis and Kristi Helvig

Congratulations Aimee and Kristi! Please contact me here with your mailing address to receive your prize.

TCS sells in Poland!

Hooray!!! I’m thrilled to report that The Cinderella Society has sold in Poland! My maternal grandmother is Polish so there’s actually a small shout-out to Poland in the book as a nod to her. How totally fun that my very first foreign rights sale was to a country from my grandmother’s ancestry.   :-)

Here’s the full announcement from Publishers Marketplace:

Polish rights to Kay Cassidy’s THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY, to Nasza Ksiegarnia, by Prava I Prevodi on behalf of Holly Root and Farley Chase at the Waxman Literary Agency.

Dziękuję, Poland!

A brief nappity nap

Happy Wednesday!

As some of you know, I’m hard at work on book 2 in the Cinderella Society series (working title: CINDY ON A MISSION) due to my lovely editor next month. As luck would have it, my copyedits for THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY arrived today and are due in two weeks.

The good news is that THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY will be that much closer to final book form by the end of the month! The bad news is that between writing, copyedits and upcoming travel, time’s a wee bit tight. Sooo… some of the regular blog features will be taking a short nap until November 1st. (They deserve some R&R, don’t you think?)

But never fear, I’ve got tons of great Booklover features, book chats, inspirational fun and giveaways lined up for November and beyond!

Oh, and yes, the Teen Author Challenge is going strong no matter what. :-) So you can still tune in every Tuesday for your weekly dose of writing inspiration and great tips for writers. Write on!

Winner, widget, and kickin’ off the week with some love

I’m very excited to announce (though many of you already saw my tweets about this late last week) that I have an official cover for The Cinderella Society! I absolutely ADORE it and could not be more thrilled. A huge thank you to Elizabeth, Mary, Nico, Alison and all of Team Egmont for giving me a debut cover that makes me do a happy dance every time I see it. You ROCK! You can check out the cover and all the book details on the Cinderella Society page.

Second, I’m happy to divert your attention to the right hand side of your screen so you can see my lovely cover in… drum roll, please…

The official Cinderella Society countdown widget!

I LOVE countdown widgets. The fact that I have my very own now–complete with my name on the cover and everything–is seriously giddy-making. (New word. Feel free to use at will.) ;-)

And now for contest news! The winner of the Lady Macbeth’s Daughter ARC giveaway to celebrate the launch of the fun new Author Cave series is…

Mik!
(I Am Nonfiction)

Congratulations, Mik! Please contact me here with your mailing address to receive your prize.

And finally, more gratitude to launch your week with good karma! The fabulous Jennifer Brown (yep, THE Jennifer Brown who wrote Hate List that you’re so psyched about) has a kickin’ gratitude feature on her blog called Time to Love. It’s a total blast, so be sure to check it out. Here’s last week’s entry:

Stay tuned for another plotting technique tomorrow in the Teen Author Challenge and for the delightful Khy‘s Booklover of the Week feature on Wednesday!

Updates & exciting news!

First things first… be sure to check out Heather’s lie from her great Booklover of the Week feature. I just updated her post here. Did you guess her lie correctly? If you did, you’ll get a bonus entry in the You 2.0 monthly blog contest!

And… it’s official! THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY is now available for pre-order on IndieBound, Borders, and Amazon. Check them out here!

IndieBound
http://www.indiebound.org/book/9781606840177

Borders
http://www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=1606840177

Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Cinderella-Society-Kay-Cassidy/dp/1606840177/ref=ed_oe_h

The cover hasn’t been finalized yet and for some reason the “The” in the title is missing, but by golly I’m thrilled to the moon and back. THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY is also listed with Barnes & Noble, Powell’s, and many other wonderful booksellers, but is not yet ready for pre-order since we’re still over 8 months away from release. I’ll keep you posted as it becomes available in other locations.

Having your book become available for pre-order is a HUGE day in any debut author’s life. It’s real! People are actually going to be reading the book we spent hundreds of hours crafting! Of course, this also goes hand in hand with the occasional bout of hyperventilation wondering if people will like the book followed by scattered moments of “Whoa… do these people know I just made this stuff up? At home, in my pajamas???”

But such is the life of an author. :-)

For those of you who have nabbed a galley of THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY, I hope you enjoy the book. I’m hard at work on book two in the series as I write this. (Well, not as I write this. That would be pretty amazing multitasking.)

And for those of you who have read the book and enjoyed it (Bless you! Your emails have made my day!), stay tuned for details on how you can become an Honorary Cindy… with all the fabulous perks that entails.

Are you ready to Step into the Sisterhood?
