It’s T-minus seven days until The Cinderella Society is in stores! This time next week, glass slipper covers will abound. :-)

To tide you over until then, I’m delighted to announce that the exclusive TCS excerpt is now available for a sneak peek! Check it out in the Books section of the site at:

I’m very excited about both bits of news–TCS debuting next Tuesday (the same day Glee returns) and finally having the excerpt on the site. So… let’s celebrate!

Go check out the excerpt, then come back here and comment below with your favorite line from chapter one for your chance to win the official Cinderella Society glass slipper metal bookmark!

Good luck and happy reading!

  1. The best part of this post – besides the expert, of course! (Best quote: And when the one person who bothers to engage you in conversation is a fortysomething who reads The Calculus News cover to cover, you know you’re inches away from rock bottom on the social barometer.) – is the fact that you knew it was coming out the same day as Glee returns. I LOVE Glee. <3

I also love that bookmark. *wink*

  2. Everyone around me was either scribbling furiously to finish their advanced algebra final, talking quietly until Mr. Norman gave them dirty looks, or texting each other on cell phones discreetly tucked into pants pockets and Prada totes.
Cuz I can totally relate *winks*
and can we buy…. teh bookmark? *stares* *wants* *realizes my chances of winning are slim to NOTHING* *pouts* *waves cash*

  3. Oouu, sounds great! I can’t wait to read the whole thing!

I liked this line best. Well, these lines, but the last sentence is my favorite part.

“Not up to a challenge today, huh?” She gave a pouty frown. “You disappoint me, Parker. I’d lower my expectations of you, but they’re already six feet under.”

    -Robyn

  4. Sounds great! I am looking forward to reading the rest of it. This part was one I could really relate to:

I’d spent most of my existence so close to the in crowd I could smell their designer perfume, but I had never once crossed the threshold of acceptance. It was like living with your face pressed against the window, your breath steaming up the glass, while the world twirled on without you.

  5. Because I LOOOOVE Ryan Steele :

“‘Sorry,’ he said in that sexy Southern drawl. ‘I didn’t know this part of the sidewalk was taken.’”

    *dies*

  6. One of my favorite quotes would have to be:

I waved my thanks—not wanting to alienate a teacher I’d have for trig next year—and headed for the door.

  7. Gorgeous bookmark!

    Here’s my fave quote:

Fate had a sick sense of humor.

    HAHA! xD

  8. “Sometimes invisibility is bliss.”

Just because sometimes I think we’d all like to be invisible – not so we can sneak around and go place we don’t normally go, but because sometimes we don’t want attention brought to us – we want to remain out of site and out of mind. As a 7th grade teacher tho – I worry about those that remain invisible. Ok that got kinda deep- sorry!

  9. my favorite is: ”Lexy and her gang walked on without so much as a backward glance but made sure to kick and shred as much of my stuff as possible as they walked through the mess. Things had begun to roll down the sidewalk toward the parking lot, and I double-timed it to grab them before they got run over. I snatched up a roll of mints and an assortment of gel pens, barely catching the lip gloss that was heading straight for the main drive”

its funny written, and it somehow reminds me of the Lexy-like girls who where in my school..and did this kind of things too..

  10. “I considered ignoring her, but it was kind of hard to do when she was close enough to smell the Tic Tac on my breath.” This was one of my favorites.

Looking forward to reading the book and sharing it with others ;)

  11. Literally. Smack. Into a very broad male chest.

Now I want to read the whole thing!! Thanks for sharing this part with the readers, but it makes me want to go read it all NOW!!
    Thanks:)

  12. I LOVE the intro!
“There are moments in life when you know things will never be the same. When you’re called to the edge of adventure and given the chance to break free, uninhibited by your past, and claim the life you were meant to live.”

It describes literally how I’m feeling right now, that I could not explain it better.
And I love the entire first chapter!*_*
If the giveaway is open to international readers,I would libe to be entered.
    Thank you very much!
    Greetings from Italy!

  13. My favorite is: “Subtle, my enemies were not.” :)
    A close second was:
“With a firm slam and a barely restrained desire to flip off an inanimate object, I kissed my sophomore year good-bye.” I have so had those moments.

    Another week to wait? Geez!

    Thanks for the preview! :)

  14. Love this line: “It was like living with your face pressed against the window, your breath steaming up the glass, while the world twirled on without you.”

I enjoyed the excerpt. Thanks for posting it!

  15. I am so sorry I no longer have my job as a children’s librarian. You should be applauded for your Great Scavenger Hunt Contest. A wonderful way to encourage teens to read and a big help for libraries. I will keep encouraging those children and teens I know to read and explore all the wonderful books out there.
It is unfortunate when libraries don’t realize the quality of YA books on the market today and the importance of encouraging our youth to read.

  16. “I waved back, butterflies soaring in formation. “You too, Ryan!”

Just as a male voice behind me shouted, “Back atcha, dude!”

The butterflies were flying in chaos as I choked down bile. Had he noticed? Had anyone else? Where was an invisibility cloak when you needed one?”

How many times has that happened to me! So embarrassing!

  17. This is hilarious! ;D

“And then there was me, silently making my way through the madness. I reached my side hall, but couldn’t get to my locker because of the couple making out in front of it. Classy. Now I had to stand there looking like a gawker or find something to do, quick.”

Is this international? If yes, please enter me! Great giveaway! :)

  18. My favorite line from the first chapter would have to be, I watched Ryan’s dark hair flick out from under his Braves hat. That’s my fav because there’s a kid like that at my school!

  19. My favorite line from the first chapter would have to be, I watched Ryan’s dark hair flick out from under his Braves hat. Man I love that part! :)

  20. I have read the book because this is 2011 so it was a long time ago it came out. My favorite chapter is chapter 18 because of the way she yells at Tina and her villan

  21. i think this book is absolutley great i got to read it a few days ago and i couldnt put it down since i finaly finshed in 3 days time. Its going to be hard to find a book to top this one on my summer reading list.
